ERNAKULAM DISTRICT PROJECTS FOR TRAINING AND REHABILITATION OF THE DISABLED

Introduction
The Ernakulam District Project for Training and Rehabilitation of the Disabled has been established by FAITH-INDIA some six years ago for the purpose of imparting vocational training and delivering a variety of rehabilitation services to the disabled individuals, according to each ones need and ability. This project has proved its effectiveness by maximum out reach and coverage through a combined approach of institutional and community based services . Therefore this project is a proven success and an experienced necessity, for the persons with disabilities. 

Main activities of the project

  • Vocational training

  • Referral service

  • Braille communication skill training 

  • Repair and maintenance of assistive devices

  • Information, guidance and follow up services

  • Advocacy and empowerment programmes

Staff
A team of staff consisting of eight members i.e., one Officer in Charge, five vocational instructors, one Braille instructors and one attender work full time for the successful implementation of this newly conceived and innovative project.
