Projects

Clothes & Water

What is the aim of this project?  (top)

Notwithstanding the fact that these children are significant earning members of their respective families, their paltry earnings is not enough to sustain two square meals a day. This is what we have seen and encountered during the last one year that we have been with them.

The weather in Delhi is quite difficult; it's absolutely hot and often humid in the high summer to bitter cold in winter, which is not only cold but also very punishing. Our aim is to provide something for each season for example atleast one set of warm clothing for these children so that they can tide over the winter. And provision for water for the summer months.

The set of clothing would include

• Sweaters
• Thermal wear
• Shoes and Socks
• Blanket each to the kids and their family members
• A tarpaulin cover on their cardboard houses

(For the water project we already have contribution from Pepsi.)

What is the magnitude of this project?(top)

Presently there are about 72 kids who visit the class. Out of these atleast 50 are regulars, the rest are Sunday gentry. But irrespective of this it is imperative that all 72 are given the same treatment and no discrimination is done on this basis. Moreover the irregulars are siblings of the regulars and hence differentiation will be detrimental for the self-esteem of the kids.

What would be the cost of the project? (top)

We estimate that the total expense on this project would come to approximately Rs 72,000. This includes the funds required for the blanket/tarpaulin etc.

How do you plan to execute this project?(top)

Some preliminary work has already been undertaken by us in order to execute this plan. We have taken measurements of all the kids that come to the class. Depending on the measurements we have already classified the sizes of the clothes we have to buy and how many in each size need to be bought. The feet size has also been taken so that buying of shoes become easier. We have identified the markets and we are in a position to start buying the clothes.

 What are your requirements?(top)

It is a fact that while everyone wants to lend a helping hand to the people in need the opportunity doesn't come to everybody. We are asking your help while lending you an opportunity to help those kids who will surely lead a better life with your help.

Project Midday Meal

What is the aim of this project?(top)

Midday meal aim at providing one square balanced meal for each child.

Why is a balanced square meal necessary for our kids?(top)

Our children are mainly rag pickers who work from morning 5 am to atleast 8 pm at night mostly without a break; they need to earn an average Rs.50-70 per day for the upkeep of their families. Hence the children go without proper food throughout the day only to return to a very measly dinner at the end of the day.

Our aim is to provide atleast one square and balanced meal for these children so that they can survive their tedious working hours.

What is the magnitude of this project?(top)

Midday Meal for 72 children for 365 days.

What would be the cost of the project?(top)

We estimate that the total expense on this project would come to approximately Rs 1,66,400. (@ Rs.45 per child per day for 365 days)

How do you plan to execute this project?(top)

Some preliminary work has already been undertaken by us in order to execute this plan. The idea is to set up a "Meal Kitchen" and provide a balanced healthy diet.

What are your requirements?(top)

It is a fact that while everyone wants to lend a helping hand to the people in need the opportunity doesn't come to everybody. We are asking your help while lending you an opportunity to help those kids who will surely lead a better life with your help.
