Introduction
FAITH-INDIA school established on 15th Jan 1995
in a small remote village namely Pallikavu
new building. In Palakkal District. 20 children subsequently moved
to a large rental building in the mid town Mannarkkal, in the down
hill area of the world renowned national park of silent valley a
small Vinayanarand son santha teacher who contributed 25 cents of
land to the school was the root cause for initating this humble
venture of MP's local area development fund way completed by Nirmiti
Kendra, Palakkad and this block won the D to the children of the
school by Shri. N.N.Krishnadas M.P( Lok sabha) on 16th Feb 2004.
This building can to all needs of so children and more building
to be contructed to accomodate even existing 90 plus children.
All kinds of fanacial and good will support from all over the world
will help to make this dream realised in the immediate future
This special school for the mentally retarded children has entered
into a new phase to this year with its dynamic initiatives for commencing
construction of own building. This school with its ninety plus children
20 plus personnel of staff and hither to generated moveable assets
has been really functioning as an institution moving from one building
to another on rent without allowing to affect quality of service
and extend of coverage. However we are going through a very tough
time with a three hundred children and parents are waiting with
a little over its 25% having been covered. Pains and sufferings
of parents and children do really give as strain, stress and sleepless
night. The strong will of our staff helps school to march full spirit
and confidence.
Pre - Vocational skills
Mentally retarded children are
imparted pre vocational skills as a plus curriculum and as a part
of their daily living. Phenol making, agarbethi making, envelop
making, products made of waste paper utilising appropriate paper
technology, making greeting cards, simple horticulture farming,
homely rural products, chalk making and stitching are the skills
given at this stage as pre vocational skills.
Parental counselling and interaction
Meeting of all parents of the
children in the school are convened to meet together at least once
in a month to interact with each other and review physical and mental
progress status of their children. Experienced professionals have
provided guidance and counseling to these parents repeatedly and
continuously.
Building Construction
One of the most important event in the
history of this school is the initiation of own building construction
activity. A Building Construction Aid Committee has been formed
under the esteemed chairmanship of Hon' ble Member of Parliament
Shri. N.N Krishnadas and Vice Chairmanship of Shri Kalathil Abdulla
MLA. President and Director General of FAITH-INDIA Prof. K.A Chandrasekharan
is the General Convener and Smt. P. Rajalkshmi Principal of the
School is the Joint General Convenor. Leaders from all sectors of
life have become partners in this attempt. Chairman Shri. N.M Krishna
Das M.P was generously sanctioned Rs.5.95 lakh from his Local Area
Development Fund as the first positive measure and contribution
towards the construction of the building.
The foundation stone of the school building was laid by Shri. Nalakath
Soopy, Hon'ble Minister for Education of Kerala on the piece of
land given to FAITH-INDIA by Smt. Santhakumari K.A at a low cost
at Viyyakurussi, by the side of National Highway 213 On October
14th. The ceremony was chaired by Shri.N.N.Krishnadas M.P and was
attended by Shri.Kalathil Abdulla MLA, Smt. Jameela Teacher, Block
Panchayat President, Mannarkkad and Smt. Sukumari, President, Kanhirapuzha
Grama Panchayat, Shri. Sebastian Preseident, Mannarkkad Panchayat
- Shri. Jose Baby Ex.MLA., Smt. Santha Ramakrishnan, Block Panchayat
Member, Mannarkkad and Smt. Sheeja Benny, Kanjirapuzha Panchayat
Ward Member. First Public donation of Rs.10,001/- was received in
the function from, Sqdnt. Leader Retd. K.A.K Nair, Sivagiri, Pallikuruppu.
Major Sihota trust Palakkad donated Rs.5,000/- and an Italian Tourist
group donated Rs.3,500/- to the building construction fund.
Nirmathi Kendra has been entrusted with the responsibility of building
construction using MP Local Area Development Fund. More sponsorships
and donations are expected during the course of construction progress.
Staff
As the Director General of FAITH-INDIA
is the Chief Executive and Head of all Projects under the organisation,
the school is well cared under his guidance and leadership. Smt.
P. Rajalakshmi continued to serve as the Principal . Besides Principal
8 Special Educators, 1 Physiotherapist, 1 Psychologist, 1 Speech
Therapist, 1 Nursery Teacher, 1 Craft Teacher, 1 Upper Division
Clerk, 1 Warden, 1 Matron, 3 Ayah, 1 Cook, 1 Sweeper and 1 Chowkidar
are in the team of staff.
Social Exposure
Teacher and students from the near by colleges and schools dignitories
and public personalities & persons down cross section of the
society are made to minge and interact with the children of the
school in every week. Students from national service society of
nearby MES college come and conduct service activities and live
with the children everyday on a group rotation basic. Open environment
friendly & Nature experiencing visits and occastion are periodically
provided to the children along with parent and teachers. All important
days and social festivals are observed and celebrated in the school.
Childrens are given to participate state and local level special
school school arts and sports events and competitions securing many
prizes.
2004-2005 the decenial year of the school in which number of creative
programmes and talent shows are being planned.
